Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This sashlock latch requires a rectangular mortise (rebate) cut into the edge of the door to house the lock body. The forend plate (the visible metal strip on the edge of the door) should sit flush with the door's edge. The spindle for the door handles passes through the center of the lock case, and the locking mechanism is operated by a separate thumbturn spindle. Ensure you have the correct door preparation before purchase.
Compatibility: The 76mm refers to the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the spindle hole. This is compatible with most standard interior doors. It is designed to work with standard spindle sizes and bathroom thumbturn sets. It is not designed for use with rim locks or other non-mortise lock types.
Care: To maintain the finish, clean the sashlock latch with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the nickel plating. Periodically check that the latch and locking mechanism operate smoothly and lubricate if necessary with a light oil.
