The IRONTITE Brenton Bolt is a heavy-duty security solution designed for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts looking to reinforce garden gates, shed doors, and barn entrances. Its primary benefit is the combination of a robust sliding bolt with an integrated loop for padlock compatibility, offering a significant upgrade to standard door security. While it is highly durable and weather-resistant, users should note that the surface-mounted design requires a flat installation surface to ensure smooth operation of the sliding mechanism.

No, the padlock is sold separately. The bolt features an integrated loop designed to accommodate standard padlocks.
While it is designed for timber use with the provided wood screws, it may be installed on metal surfaces if you substitute the screws with appropriate metal fixings.
The epoxy black coating is formulated for high durability and weather resistance; however, avoid using harsh abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
The main difference is the length of the bolt throw. Longer bolts are generally recommended for heavier gates or where there is a wider gap between the gate and the frame.
The epoxy finish offers good weather resistance, but in highly saline coastal environments, regular cleaning is recommended to maintain the longevity of the metal.
Check that the mounting surface is perfectly flat and ensure the screws are not overtightened, which can warp the metal bracket.
Loosen the mounting screws slightly to shift the bolt position until it aligns with the keeper, then re-tighten.
Clean the area with a soft cloth and mild soap; if the epoxy coating is scratched, apply a touch-up paint specifically designed for exterior metal to prevent further rust.
Installation requires only basic tools such as a drill and a screwdriver. Begin by holding the bolt in the desired position on the door and marking the screw holes, ensuring the bolt aligns perfectly with the receiver plate on the adjacent frame. Use the provided wood screws to secure the unit to the surface. For long-term performance, periodically check the screws for tightness, as wood can shrink or expand with seasonal temperature changes. If the bolt begins to feel stiff over time, a light application of a silicone-based lubricant can keep the sliding mechanism moving freely without attracting dirt.
