This plant is excellent for ground cover in rockeries and gravel gardens, offering superb drought tolerance and thriving in hot sun, though it also tolerates partial shade. It was awarded RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year in 2019. The plant features fleshy leaves that remain vibrant from summer to autumn. The leaves are moss green with delicately serrated edges and a creamy-yellow border. Pale-yellow blooms emerge from pink flower buds, and new foliage appears from cherry-red leaf buds. This hardy perennial spreads to form a cushion of colourful foliage, attracting butterflies and pollinating insects. For best growth, plant sedum in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained, non-acidic soil enriched with well-rotted manure or compost. Water regularly during hot, dry periods until the plants are established. After flowering, trim old stems and foliage to maintain shape. Sedum is drought-tolerant once established. Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten.
Product specifications:
Position: Full Sun, Sun or Semi-Shade
Height: Up to 15cm when fully established
Spread: Up to 45cm when fully established
Flowering period: July to September
Delivered with growing and care instructions.
