Troubleshooting
Difficulty shifting gears
Ensure the derailleur hanger is straight. Check cable tension and lubrication. If issues persist, a professional tune-up may be needed.
Brakes feel spongy or weak
Check brake pad alignment and wear. For hydraulic brakes, the system may need to be bled to remove air bubbles. Consult a mechanic if unsure.
Chain skipping or dropping
Verify front and rear derailleur adjustment. Inspect the chain and cassette for wear. Ensure the chain is properly lubricated.
Unusual noises or creaking
Identify the source of the noise. Common culprits include the bottom bracket, seatpost, handlebars, or pedals. Ensure all bolts are properly tightened and lubricated.
Tire rubbing against frame/fork
Ensure you are not exceeding the maximum tire clearance. Check that wheels are properly seated and dished. If using fenders, confirm tire clearance is maintained.
