Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup: Upon receiving your Trek Checkpoint ALR 4, professional assembly by a bike shop is highly recommended to ensure all components are correctly fitted and adjusted for safety and optimal performance. This includes precise gear indexing, brake adjustments, and torqueing of critical bolts.
Compatibility: The bike is compatible with pedals, which are typically sold separately. It features standard mounts for water bottles and is designed to accommodate fenders and racks (check specific rack compatibility for rear triangle mounts). The wide tire clearance means it can fit a range of gravel and some cyclocross tires up to 50mm in width. It uses standard Schrader or Presta valves depending on the inner tube or tubeless setup.
Care: Keep the bike clean by washing it regularly with mild soap and water, especially after riding in wet or muddy conditions. Dry the chain thoroughly and apply a suitable bicycle chain lubricant to prevent rust and ensure smooth shifting. Regularly check tire pressure and inspect tires for wear or damage. Periodically have the bike tuned up by a professional mechanic to maintain its performance and longevity. Store the bike in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures.
