Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setting up your Epson EcoTank ET-2861 is straightforward and designed for user convenience.
Initial Setup
- Unpack and Prepare: Carefully remove all packaging materials and protective tapes from the printer.
- Fill Ink Tanks: Open the ink tank covers and bottles. The key-lock design ensures you can only insert the correct color ink into its corresponding tank. Gently squeeze the bottles until the tanks are full. The front ink level display helps you monitor this process.
- Power On: Connect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Initial Ink Charge: Follow the on-screen instructions or the quick start guide to perform the initial ink charging. This process prepares the ink system for printing.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Use the printer's control panel to connect to your home Wi-Fi network or use Wi-Fi Direct for a direct connection to your mobile devices. Alternatively, download the Epson Smart Panel app to guide you through the network setup process.
- Install Software/App: For optimal control and functionality, install the Epson Smart Panel app on your smartphone or tablet. For computers, install the necessary drivers from the Epson support website.

Care and Maintenance
- Ink Refills: When the front ink level display indicates low levels, use genuine Epson ink bottles to refill the tanks. Do not overfill.
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. For print quality issues like streaks or faded prints, use the printer's utility or the Epson Smart Panel app to perform a nozzle check and print head cleaning.
- Paper Handling: Use good quality paper appropriate for inkjet printing to prevent jams and ensure optimal print quality. Do not overload the rear paper tray.
- Heat-Free Technology: This technology inherently reduces the need for frequent maintenance related to printhead wear or clogging, ensuring long-term reliability. Avoid exposing the printer to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
