The StarTech.com USB-C Multiport Adapter is designed for mobile professionals, students, and anyone needing to expand their laptop's connectivity on the go. Its key benefit is providing a full workstation setup from a single USB-C port, including video output, networking, and USB expansion, with the caveat that your laptop's USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode and USB Power Delivery for full functionality. This adapter offers flexible video options (4K HDMI or 1080p VGA), Gigabit Ethernet, and multiple USB ports, all powered by 100W Power Delivery passthrough.

No, this adapter offers either an HDMI output OR a VGA output for a single external display. It does not support dual monitor configurations.
The HDMI port supports up to 4K (3840 x 2160) at 30Hz. The VGA port supports up to 1080p (1920 x 1080) at 60Hz.
The adapter supports USB Power Delivery 3.0 up to 100W. However, it reserves approximately 12W for its own operation, so your laptop can receive up to 88W if connected to a 100W power source.
For basic functionality (USB, Ethernet, HDMI/VGA), drivers are typically not required on modern Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS systems as they are plug-and-play. For advanced features or optimal performance, consider downloading the StarTech.com Connectivity Tools application.
The attached host cable is 30cm (approximately 12 inches) long.
Yes, if your smartphone's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (like some Samsung Galaxy S series and Note series devices), you can use it for video output and data transfer.
No, the HDMI port on this adapter supports 4K resolution only at a 30Hz refresh rate.
Ensure the adapter's USB-C cable is securely connected to the host device. Verify that the host device's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Try a different HDMI or VGA cable, or a different display.
Confirm that your laptop's USB-C port supports USB Power Delivery. Ensure you are using your laptop's original USB-C power adapter or a compatible high-wattage adapter. The adapter requires at least 12W of power for its own operation.
Check that the Ethernet cable is properly connected at both ends. Ensure the correct drivers are installed on your operating system. Try connecting the cable directly to your router or switch to rule out cable issues.
Unplug and re-plug the USB device. Try connecting the USB device to a different port on the adapter. If using a high-power USB device, ensure your laptop is sufficiently charged or connected to power via the PD port.
