The Faithfull Half-Round Second Cut File is an essential hand tool designed for metalworkers, engineers, and DIY enthusiasts who require a versatile solution for shaping and smoothing diverse surfaces. By combining a flat side for planar work and a rounded side for concave and internal radius curves, it offers significant utility in a single tool, though users should note that the second-cut tooth pattern is designed for material removal rather than fine finishing.

Second cut refers to the coarseness of the teeth; it provides a medium level of material removal, sitting between a bastard cut (coarse) and a smooth cut (fine).
While it can be used on wood, it is primarily designed for metal. It may clog quickly when used on resinous woods.
Keep it in a dry environment and store it separately from other metal tools to prevent the teeth from becoming dull.
Yes, this model comes equipped with a comfortable, ergonomic handle installed.
It is better suited for shaping and smoothing metal parts rather than sharpening cutting edges, which usually requires a finer, specialized file.
The file is likely clogged with swarf. Use a wire brush or file card to clean the teeth.
Ensure you are using the correct pressure and not using the file on material that is too hard, which can fracture the teeth.
No specialized setup is required; the file is ready for use immediately out of the packaging. To maintain the tool's effectiveness, avoid using it on hardened steel, as this will rapidly dull the cutting teeth. After use, clear trapped metal shavings (swarf) from the teeth using a file card or wire brush. Store the file in a rack or a protective sleeve rather than loose in a drawer to prevent the teeth from clashing with other tools, which can cause chipping.
