Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the engine is cool. Locate the existing oil filter.
- Using an oil filter wrench (or the recommended special tool OCS 2), carefully unscrew the old filter.
- Clean the filter mounting surface on the engine block.
- Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new Mahle OC26 filter with a thin film of clean engine oil.
- Screw the new filter on by hand until the gasket contacts the mounting surface. Then, tighten it an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn by hand. For precise installation, use a torque wrench to achieve 20 Nm.
- Refill the engine with the correct type and amount of oil.
- Start the engine and check for leaks around the filter.
Compatibility:
This filter is compatible with numerous part numbers from brands including A.L. FILTER, A.P., ACDelco, ALCO FILTERS, AMC Filter, and BALDWIN. Always verify the fitment for your specific vehicle make, model, and year using a reliable parts catalog or by consulting your vehicle's owner's manual before purchase.
Care:
Oil filters are designed for single use and should be replaced at recommended service intervals, typically every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or as specified by your vehicle manufacturer. Do not attempt to clean or reuse a used oil filter.
