The B&Q Socket Protector Cover is designed for homeowners and parents looking to enhance electrical safety in households with young children or pets. By securely shielding standard UK double sockets, these covers prevent unauthorized tampering and accidental unplugging, serving as an essential safety layer. While they are highly effective at blocking access, users should be aware that they require manual removal to access the sockets for appliance use, which may be inconvenient for high-traffic areas.

Check that your socket faceplate is standard size and that there is no debris preventing a flush fit.
Ensure you are applying even pressure at the designated grip points to release the locking mechanism.
Check if your wall socket plate is slightly sunken; a standard flat-mount socket is required for a secure fit.
Installation is straightforward: ensure the socket is clear, then align the protector cover over the double outlet and press firmly into place until it clicks or seats securely. Compatibility is limited to standard UK double socket configurations; they will not fit single sockets or decorative, oversized, or recessed wall plates. To maintain the covers, simply wipe them down with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust. If the covers become loose over time, check for debris behind the rim or ensure the socket faceplate is flush against the wall.
