FAQs

Are these plants safe for pets?

Potentilla species are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Do I need to cover them in winter?

No, these are very hardy plants and can withstand very cold temperatures once established.

When is the best time to plant them?

Spring or autumn is the ideal time to allow the roots to settle before the peak heat of summer or the deep frost of winter.

Can I grow these in containers?

Yes, they perform well in large pots, provided the container has excellent drainage and is kept watered.

How often should I feed them?

A balanced, slow-release fertilizer applied in early spring is sufficient to support seasonal growth.

Troubleshooting

Flowers are sparse or missing

Ensure the plant is receiving enough direct sunlight; shade will inhibit bloom production.

Yellowing leaves

This is often a sign of waterlogged soil. Check for poor drainage and adjust watering frequency.

Plant looks stunted or dry

During the first year, plants are not yet drought-tolerant. Ensure a consistent watering schedule until established.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Preparation: Upon arrival, soak the 9cm pots in water for a few minutes to ensure the root ball is hydrated.
Planting: Dig a hole twice the width of the pot. Mix in some organic compost to the native soil for a strong start.
Spacing: Space the plants 90cm apart to allow for their full spread.
Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season until the plants are fully established.
Pruning: Trim back lightly in early spring to maintain a bushy shape and encourage fresh, vibrant new growth.
Soil: While they tolerate most soil types, ensure the site does not become waterlogged, as this can damage the roots.
