FAQs

What is Slickcast?

Slickcast is a special coating applied to the fly line that makes it extremely slick and durable, improving casting distance and line longevity.

What line weight is right for me?

The RIO Technical Trout Elite Fly Line comes in different weight forward (WF) sizes, WF3 being the lowest. Choose a line weight that matches your fly rod's specifications.

How do I clean my fly line?

Use a fly line cleaner and a soft cloth. Apply the cleaner to the cloth and wipe the line from the tip to the backing.

How often should I clean my fly line?

Clean your fly line as needed, but at least once per season. Frequent cleaning will extend the life of your line.

Can I use this line in saltwater?

While this line is primarily designed for freshwater, rinsing it thoroughly with fresh water after each saltwater use will help maintain its performance.

What is the benefit of a floating fly line?

A floating fly line allows for easier retrieval, better strike detection, and makes it easier to fish dry flies and other surface presentations.

Troubleshooting

Line tangles frequently.

Check your casting technique and ensure the line is free of any twists or kinks. Consider stretching the line before use.
