Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Begin by rinsing the glass container.
- Add the provided gravel for drainage.
- Layer the sand over the gravel.
- Place a thin layer of charcoal on top of the sand to help filter impurities.
- Add a suitable terrarium substrate (not included).
- Carefully introduce your chosen plants, arranging them as desired.
- Lightly water the soil.
- Place the lid securely to seal the terrarium.
Compatibility:
This terrarium is best suited for plants that thrive in high humidity and low to medium indirect light. Examples include:
- Various mosses
- Small ferns (e.g., Maidenhair Fern)
- Pilea species
- Fittonia (Nerve Plant)
Avoid plants that require dry conditions or direct sunlight.
Care:
- Watering: Water sparingly only when condensation significantly reduces or the soil appears dry. Over-watering is the most common issue. Aim for a light misting rather than soaking.
- Light: Place in a location with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can overheat the terrarium and scorch plants.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior glass with a damp cloth as needed. If the interior glass becomes cloudy due to algae, you may need to open the terrarium and wipe it down, allowing it to air out slightly before resealing.
