Product Information

Full details

The Sony A6700 Wildlife Kit is an ideal solution for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and wildlife photographers who require professional-grade reach in a compact, travel-friendly package. By combining the 26MP APS-C sensor with versatile 16-50mm and 70-350mm lenses, this system captures sharp images of both landscapes and distant subjects with high-speed AI autofocus, though the crop-sensor format may limit extreme low-light performance compared to full-frame alternatives.

FAQs

Can I use full-frame lenses on the Sony A6700?

Yes, the A6700 uses the Sony E-mount, meaning it is compatible with both APS-C and full-frame Sony E-mount lenses.

Does this camera have weather sealing?

Yes, the camera features dust and moisture-resistant sealing, making it suitable for outdoor environments.

How long does the battery last for wildlife photography?

The NP-FZ100 battery is highly efficient, typically providing enough power for several hundred shots, though constant use of the EVF and high-speed AF will reduce this.

Is this camera good for beginners?

While it is a professional-grade tool, the intuitive touchscreen interface makes it accessible for beginners who are willing to learn the menu system.

What memory card do I need for 4K120p video?

You should use a UHS-II V60 or V90 SD card to ensure sufficient write speeds for high-bitrate video recording.

Troubleshooting

Autofocus is not tracking moving subjects

Ensure the focus mode is set to AF-C (Continuous AF) and that the Subject Recognition target is set to 'Animal/Bird' in the menu.

Images appear blurry when using the 70-350mm lens

Verify that SteadyShot is enabled in the menu and increase your shutter speed to at least 1/500s to counteract subject motion.

Camera overheating during 4K video recording

Ensure the screen is flipped out to allow heat dissipation and avoid shooting in direct, high-noon sunlight for extended periods.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely compact and lightweight for a telephoto-capable kit
Industry-leading AI subject tracking for birds and animals
High-speed 4K video capabilities for cinematic slow-motion
Excellent reach with the included 70-350mm lens
Robust in-body stabilization for handheld photography

Cons

APS-C sensor performance is not as strong as full-frame in extreme low-light
Only a single SD card slot
Menu system may have a steep learning curve for beginners

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, ensure the NP-FZ100 battery is fully charged. When attaching lenses, align the white dots on the lens and camera body, twisting clockwise until you hear a click. For outdoor care, always keep the sensor cap on when not in use to prevent dust accumulation. Use a dedicated lens blower for the glass and keep the camera away from excessive moisture; although the body is weather-sealed, it is not waterproof. Update your firmware via the Sony mobile app to ensure the latest autofocus optimizations are installed.
