The Pressure Relief Device (PRD) releases water to prevent damage from pressure build-up caused by blockages in the shower system.
The PRD is located within the Gainsborough shower unit, usually behind the front cover.
Water will flow from the PRD when it activates. This indicates a problem within your shower system, such as a kinked hose or blocked shower head.
No, the PRD is a safety device and is not a replacement for regular maintenance. It prevents damage when issues occur. It does not prevent blockages.
Turn off the shower immediately, and investigate the cause of the blockage. Check the hose and shower head, then address the problem.
The PRD is part of the shower system. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for replacement, or contact a qualified plumber.
Turn off the shower immediately. Identify and resolve the blockage, such as a kinked hose or a clogged shower head. If the problem persists, consult a qualified plumber.
Check for blockages in the shower head or hose. Ensure that water pressure to the shower unit is sufficient. If the PRD has been activated, check the shower system.
The Gainsborough PRD is compatible with Gainsborough shower units. The device is located within the shower unit and typically requires no external setup. Compatibility is specific to Gainsborough shower models, so confirm the model number. To care for the PRD, ensure the shower is regularly maintained. If the PRD activates frequently, investigate and address the underlying issue causing the blockage. There's no separate maintenance required for the PRD itself.
