Glencairn Dram Glass

While not officially sanctioned by any single whisky body, the Glencairn glass is widely regarded and adopted by distillers, blenders, and enthusiasts worldwide as the standard for nosing and tasting whisky due to its unique design.

These glasses are primarily designed for neat spirit tasting. Their shape is not ideal for mixing cocktails or holding large volumes of liquid.

Hand washing is strongly recommended to maintain the clarity and integrity of the glass. Dishwashers can be harsh and may cause clouding or damage over time.

A standard Glencairn glass typically holds about 5-6 ounces (150-170 ml) but is designed to be filled with a tasting measure of whisky, usually around 1-2 ounces (30-60 ml).

The tapered mouth concentrates the aromas of the whisky, allowing you to capture and better perceive the complex scent profile before tasting.

The wide base allows the whisky to be swirled, aerating it and releasing its full range of colors and volatile aromatic compounds.

This set is best suited for individuals who appreciate whisky or other fine spirits. For someone who doesn't, it might not be a practical gift.

Dry the glass immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth after washing and rinsing. Using distilled water for rinsing can also help prevent spots.
