The Bahco Ergo 2-in-1 Flat File is an essential tool for woodworkers, metalworkers, and DIY enthusiasts who require a versatile solution for rapid material removal and smoothing. Its standout feature is the dual-purpose rasp-cut texture that allows for effective shaping across both wood and metal surfaces, minimizing the need to carry multiple files. While it excels at general material shaping, users should note that the aggressive cut pattern may leave a rougher finish on delicate surfaces compared to fine-tooth finishing files.

Yes, the rasp-cut is effective on most wood types, though it is intended for rapid removal rather than finishing.
Yes, the file is suitable for soft metals like aluminum, but frequent cleaning is required to prevent aluminum from clogging the teeth.
The product is designed with a hanging hole for open storage, and typically does not include a separate sheath.
While it can remove material from edge tools, it is too coarse for sharpening; use a whetstone or finer diamond stone for the final edge.
Keep the file in a dry environment and avoid contact with moisture. A light coating of machine oil can be applied if storing in humid conditions.
The teeth are likely clogged with debris. Use a file card or a stiff wire brush to clear particles from the rasp-cut grooves.
Ensure the handle is free of oil or grease. Wipe the Ergo handle with a dry cloth to restore grip friction.
No specialized setup is required for the Bahco Ergo 2-in-1; it is ready to use straight out of the packaging. To maintain the tool's effectiveness, ensure that you clean the teeth regularly using a file card or wire brush to prevent metal or wood dust from clogging the grooves. Avoid using the file on extremely hardened steel, as this may prematurely dull the cutting teeth. When not in use, store it hanging in a dry area or in a tool roll to prevent the teeth from striking other metallic tools, which can cause chipping.
