Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup:
- Determine Placement: Decide on the optimal positions for the base plate (on the door) and the receiver plate (on the door frame). Ensure the door can be slightly ajar when the chain is engaged.
- Mark Screw Holes: Hold the plates in position and mark the locations for the screw holes.
- Drill Pilot Holes: Drill small pilot holes at the marked locations to ease screw insertion.
- Attach Plates: Securely fasten the base plate to the door and the receiver plate to the frame using the provided screws (3.5 x 25mm). The chain will then connect between the two.
Compatibility:
The TIMCO Door Chain is suitable for most standard residential doors, both internal and external, provided they have a suitable frame to attach the receiver plate. It is compatible with wooden, composite, and some uPVC doors where the frame allows secure screw fixing. Ensure there is sufficient clearance for the chain to operate when the door is opened.
Care:
- Clean the door chain periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the satin chrome finish.
- For areas with occasional dampness, wipe dry after exposure to moisture to maintain the corrosion resistance.
