FAQs

Do I need to stake these sweet peas?

No, this is a dwarf, bush-forming variety that stays under 30cm and does not require trellises or canes.

How often should I water them?

You should check the soil daily. They have a high appetite for water and the container soil can dry out rapidly in the sun.

Can I grow these in the ground?

While they are designed for containers, they can be planted in borders, but they will still maintain their compact, low-mound shape.

What colors are included in the 6 pack?

The pack includes a mix of white, pink, red, and lavender blossoms.

Will they grow larger than 30cm?

They are genetically bred to remain compact and will typically stay well under 30cm in height.

Why do the plants look small upon arrival?

Each live plant is unique. Depending on the season, they may be pruned back to encourage stronger growth upon planting.

Troubleshooting

Flowers are wilting during the day

The plant is likely suffering from moisture stress; check the soil and ensure it is kept consistently damp.

Poor flowering mid-summer

Deadhead spent blooms consistently to encourage new growth and ensure the plant is receiving sufficient sunlight.

Pros and Cons

Pros

No structural support or trellising required
Perfect for small gardens, balcony pots, and window boxes
Offers the same high-intensity scent as standard sweet peas
Continuous flowering habit with regular deadheading
Compact form keeps flowers at eye level for better enjoyment

Cons

High water requirements despite the small size
Soil dries out quickly in containers, requiring daily checks
Growth habit is strictly bush-form, not suitable for vertical training
Performance is highly dependent on consistent nutrient delivery

Setup, Compatibility & Care

For the best results, use a premium, moisture-retentive multi-purpose compost. When planting out the plugs, ensure the container has adequate drainage to prevent waterlogging. Position your containers in a spot that receives full sun exposure throughout the day. Water the plants daily, especially during hot summer weather, as these plants are thirsty and will wilt if the root zone becomes too dry. To maintain a constant show of color, pinch off faded flowers regularly; this prevents the plant from setting seed and forces it to redirect energy back into producing new, scented buds.
