Full details
The Restore Shallow Storage Basket by Muuto is designed for homeowners and office professionals seeking an organized, minimalist aesthetic for their workspaces. Its primary benefit is the combination of soft, tactile polymer felt with a sturdy, durable construction made from recycled plastic bottles, providing a sustainable way to corral small items or documents. While its shallow 12 cm height is perfect for shelves and desktops, users should note that its open design is best suited for items intended to be kept visible rather than hidden away.

FAQs
Is the material actually made from recycled plastic?
Yes, the Restore basket is crafted from a polymer felt composite produced from recycled plastic bottles.
Can I use this basket for organizing heavy books?
While the basket is sturdy, it is designed for smaller objects and papers. For very heavy items, we recommend distributing the weight evenly across the base.
Will the felt scratch my wooden desk?
No, the soft felt material is gentle on furniture and will not cause scratches to wooden, glass, or metal surfaces.
Is this basket available in other colors?
This guide focuses on the Grey variant, but Muuto offers the Restore series in a variety of color palettes depending on current availability.
Can I wash the basket in a washing machine?
No, machine washing is not recommended. Use a damp cloth or vacuum to maintain cleanliness.
What are the exact dimensions?
The basket measures 12 cm in height, 31 cm in width, and 40 cm in length.
Troubleshooting
Basket has picked up dust or lint
Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft upholstery brush attachment to gently lift particles from the felt fibers.
The shape feels slightly compressed after shipping
Gently manipulate the walls back into their original rectangular form by hand; the polymer felt is flexible and will regain its shape.
Spilled liquid on the basket
Blot the area immediately with a dry cloth, then use a lightly dampened cloth to clean the spot, ensuring the basket is left to air dry completely.
Pros and Cons

- Eco-friendly construction using recycled plastic bottles
- Soft texture prevents scratching delicate furniture surfaces
- Sturdy enough to hold heavy papers or documents
- Low profile allows for easy access to stored items
- Easy to maintain with basic household cleaning tools
Cons
- Open-top design offers no dust protection for contents
- Felt material can attract lint if not cleaned regularly
- Not suitable for heavy-duty items that exceed the material's rigidity
Setup, Compatibility & Care
No assembly is required for the Restore Shallow Storage Basket; it arrives ready for use immediately upon unboxing. To ensure the longevity of the recycled felt material, avoid placing it in direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent potential color fading. For general cleaning, a standard vacuum with a soft brush attachment is recommended to remove dust or lint. If you encounter a spill or localized dirt, simply wipe the affected area with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid submerging the basket in water, as excessive saturation can affect the structural integrity of the felt composite.
