Product Information

Full details

The NGT Distance Stick Set is an essential tool for carp and specimen anglers who prioritize pinpoint accuracy in their fishing approach. Designed for anglers of all skill levels, these sticks allow you to consistently hit your chosen spot by measuring and locking in your casting distance through the wrap-counting method. While the system is highly effective for improving your fishing precision, it does require a flat, clear area of ground near your swim to be used effectively.

FAQs

Can I use these sticks on concrete or wooden platforms?

These sticks are designed to be pushed into soft earth. They are not suitable for hard surfaces like concrete or wooden platforms.

What is the purpose of the 12ft string?

The string acts as a fixed spacer to ensure your sticks are always the correct distance apart, providing a standard measurement for your wraps.

Are these sticks compatible with all fishing reels?

Yes, they work with any reel that has a line clip, which is standard on almost all modern carp and specimen fishing reels.

How do I count my wraps?

Simply wind your line around the sticks; one full circuit of the two sticks counts as one wrap. Record the number of wraps and the remaining distance in feet.

Are replacement parts available if I lose a stick?

It is recommended to check with the manufacturer or your local retailer, but the set is sold as a complete unit for performance consistency.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty inserting sticks into hard ground

Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the sticks in, or look for a softer patch of ground nearby to avoid damage.

Line slipping off the sticks

Ensure the sticks are kept perfectly vertical and avoid over-tightening the line during the wrap process.

Glow tips not visible in the dark

Charge the glow tips by exposing them to a bright headtorch beam for 30 seconds before sunset.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Significantly increases casting accuracy
Glow-in-the-dark tips assist with night fishing
Easy to transport and store in the included case
Simple, effective method for distance control

Cons

Requires a flat area on the bank
May be difficult to insert into extremely hard or rocky ground
Requires practice to master the wrap-counting technique

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your distance sticks, select a level piece of ground and insert the sticks firmly into the soil using the included 12ft cord as a guide for the spacing. Ensure the sticks are vertical and stable before wrapping your line. Compatibility is universal, as the sticks work with any fishing reel featuring a line clip. For care, wipe the sticks clean of mud and debris after each session before placing them back into the storage case. Avoid using excessive force to hammer the sticks into rocky or frozen ground to prevent bending the tips or damaging the glow-in-the-dark finish.
