Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before beginning installation, ensure the engine is completely cool. Locate the existing ignition coil, typically mounted to the frame near the cylinder head or under the seat casing. Disconnect the spark plug cap first, then unplug the primary electrical connectors from the coil. When installing the replacement unit, ensure the mounting points are free of corrosion to allow for a proper ground connection. Always verify that the wire connection to the spark plug is seated firmly. For long-term care, keep the coil area free of excessive oil buildup and road debris, as grime can trap heat and shorten the life of electrical components.
