Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting:
- Choose a location that receives full sun for the best flowering results.
- Ensure the soil is fertile and well-drained. Amend heavy clay soil with organic matter to improve drainage.
- Plant the Clematis 'Marjorie' in its 3L pot at the depth it was previously growing.
- Water thoroughly after planting.
Support:
Provide a robust support structure such as a trellis, arch, or pergola. Gently tie the initial shoots to the support to encourage climbing.
Watering:
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish the plant. Once established, water during dry spells, especially when flowering or setting new growth.
Pruning:
Minimal pruning is required. After flowering in May and June, trim back any excessively long shoots to a healthy bud to maintain a compact shape and encourage dense growth. Avoid hard pruning unless absolutely necessary.
