Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Base Preparation: Ensure a stable, well-compacted sub-base (e.g., crushed stone or hardcore) and a layer of sharp sand bedding. This is crucial for longevity and to prevent movement.
- Laying: Place the slabs onto the prepared sand bed, tapping gently with a rubber mallet to set. Use a spirit level to ensure a consistent fall away from buildings for drainage.
- Jointing: Fill the gaps between slabs with a suitable jointing material (e.g., kiln-dried sand, or a polymeric sand for enhanced stability) after laying.
Compatibility:
These paving slabs are compatible with most standard landscaping materials and garden designs. They are particularly well-suited for traditional garden styles but can also provide a contrasting natural element in more contemporary settings. Ensure compatibility with any edging or drainage systems you plan to use.
Care:
- Cleaning: Regularly sweep to remove debris. For stubborn dirt or algae, use a stiff brush with water and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washers, which can damage the stone surface.
- Maintenance: Periodically check jointing material and top up as needed. For deeper cleaning or to restore color, specific natural stone cleaners are available, but always test in an inconspicuous area first.
