Product Information

Full details

The Gardner Tungsten Hinge Beads are essential terminal tackle components designed for carp anglers who utilize hinged stiff rigs, Ronnie rigs, or quick-change chod rigs. These beads provide a secondary hinge point and add critical weight to the hook section for better presentation, though they require specific sizing compatibility with size 12 swivels to function correctly.

FAQs

Can I use these with size 8 swivels?

No, these beads are specifically engineered for size 12 QC or XT swivels and will not fit correctly on larger swivels.

Are these reusable?

Yes, provided they are not damaged during removal, they can be reused on multiple hooklinks.

How many beads come in a pack?

Each pack contains 8 beads.

Can I trim the beads?

Yes, you can carefully trim the beads to adjust the sinking rate or weight as needed for your specific rig requirements.

What hook sizes work best with these?

These standard beads are optimized for hooks in sizes 4, 5, and 6.

Troubleshooting

Bead slides off the swivel during casting

Ensure the bead is pushed firmly onto the swivel body until it clicks into place; if it remains loose, check if the swivel is the correct size 12 gauge.

Rig is not pinning down sufficiently

Add a small amount of tungsten putty to the bead or check if the pop-up bait is too buoyant, requiring a larger counterbalance.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Increases hook point movement for better hooking potential
Adds weight to the hooklink to keep it pinned down
Easy to attach and secure on the hook section
Streamlined design provides a tidy, professional finish
Durable tungsten material maintains performance over time

Cons

Strictly compatible with size 12 swivels only
May require trimming for specific pop-up buoyancy
Size is specific to hooks sized 4-6

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your rig, slide the Tungsten Hinge Bead onto your hook section before attaching it to your swivel. Once the hooklink is looped onto your size 12 QC or XT swivel, slide the bead down firmly so it covers the top half of the swivel.

Compatibility: Designed strictly for size 12 QC or XT swivels. Best used with hooks in sizes 4, 5, or 6.
Care: Rinse your terminal tackle with fresh water after each session to remove silt or lake debris. Store in a cool, dry place inside your tackle box to prevent oxidation of the tungsten coating.
